Welcome to the Nitro APIs

Nitro APIs let you embed document automation directly into your systems, applications, and workflows. From PDF conversion, extraction, and processing through to eSigning, Nitro provides secure, scalable APIs to help teams automate document-heavy processes at scale. Nitro provides APIs across three product areas:

PDF Services API

Automate document processing — convert, extract, transform and redact PDFs.

Nitro Sign API

Build electronic signature workflows into your applications and systems.

Nitro Sign Enterprise Verified

Support high-trust digital signing, identity verification and regulated signature requirements.
The PDF Services API and Nitro Sign API share a common authentication model and base URL. Nitro Sign Enterprise Verified is a separate product with its own authentication and tenant-specific base URL. API access requires the corresponding Nitro product or service to be enabled for your organisation.

Nitro PDF Services API

Nitro’s PDF Services API lets you automate common document tasks such as conversion, extraction, redaction, and transformation directly within your workflows.
  • Converting documents between formats (e.g. Word, Excel, images, PDF)
  • Extracting text, tables, form data, and metadata
  • Applying transformations such as optimization, flattening, merging, or splitting
  • Running asynchronous jobs and retrieving results programmatically

Nitro Sign API

The Nitro Sign API enables you to integrate secure, compliant electronic signature workflows into your applications or internal systems. It’s designed for enterprise-grade signing at scale, with predictable pricing and robust compliance.
  • Create signature requests: send one or more documents in an envelope for electronic signature
  • Retrieve documents: access signed or in-progress files programmatically
  • Check request status: track signature progress and trigger downstream actions
  • Subscribe to webhooks: receive real-time events as an envelope moves through signing

Nitro Sign Enterprise Verified

Nitro Sign Enterprise Verified (NSEV) supports high-trust digital signing workflows where stronger identity assurance or specific signature standards are required. It supports signing methods including identity verification and digital certificates, with support for requirements such as eIDAS Advanced Electronic Signatures (AES), Qualified Electronic Signatures (QES) and ZertES. NSEV exposes the NSEV WebPortal API, which uses a package-based model and has its own authentication and tenant-specific base URL.
  • Create packages, upload documents, and place signing elements
  • Add stakeholders and actors, and drive them through a defined signing process
  • Apply bulk actions across many packages at once
  • Download audit trails and verify their integrity
Choosing a Nitro signing solution. Nitro Sign and Nitro Sign Enterprise Verified support different signing requirements and use cases. Nitro Sign is designed for electronic signature workflows, while Nitro Sign Enterprise Verified supports scenarios requiring higher levels of identity assurance and digital signature standards such as AES, QES and ZertES.The right solution depends on your organisation’s workflow, regulatory and identity requirements.
  • Embed signing and document automation directly into your existing tools, platforms, and workflows. Built on Nitro’s trusted infrastructure, supporting global standards including eIDAS, UETA, ESIGN Act, SOC 2, and ISO 27001.
  • Designed for high-volume, repeatable document workflows with predictable performance and usage-based pricing. From onboarding and API setup to troubleshooting and optimization, Nitro provides hands-on support for complex needs.
